The reason you had to endure "Mule Skinner Blues" is your attraction to superstition on days other than the accepted pagan holiday and your aversion to L notes. But a quality that is required by the hunt is trust: trust that your accomplices know their weapons, ammunition, your general locale as well as the canines, an extraction plan (and ability) in the event of your being on the receiving end of a random group of lead spheres traveling in excess of 1300 feet per second which have just experienced 12 k psi within a cylindrical tube of steel, knowing of their speedy appearance as you become immersed in 0 degrees Centigrade and require their assistance as you cut away your hunting attire before it as a force acts upon you like a millstone and last that they know their complete tube lengths in order to prevent the loss of nerves in the cochlea when your are lacking ear tampons in a hastily constructed blind.

Ah yes, the cooler platform. I have received my share of demerits for not strapping the coolers down properly as a lad should upon finding the straps dangling from the platform some miles down the road. But, R.J. lives on BLT's out of a cooler on a daily basis and has years upon years of experience of which Kirk's experience is a couple of Pepsis short of R.J.'s.

Amen Brother Raimey! Although R.J. does have a way with strapping down those coolers, and it wouldn't be the same without Kirk's 4:30 A.M. rendition of "Mule Skinner Blues." As for you, I don't think I've ever had a better cup of coffee. Wake up the flavor!

The trip takes very little talent, just a nonstop drive. No matter how bad you feel or when you hurt, if you open the kennel and loose the hounds, you are bound to those beasts to hunt the ever wary ditch parrot whose only demise is to make but ONE mistake. But the ability to laugh long and hard is a necessity. Also, a hunger for cattail seeds thru any port as well as an hunger for the ever abundant salad of wild hemp, tumbleweed and some fragrant Texas weed is a must.
